I would like to set up a camera in one of my nest boxes and would like to have some recommendations for a good one. I have two Gilwood nest boxes but want to start with just one camera.
Someone in my Next Door group uses a regular Blink camera, and the pictures she posts are excellent. I bought one and was planning on installing it today. It’s too large to work in my boxes. The bluebirds would have a hard time entering and exiting the box since the entry hole is at the top.
I am now looking at cameras designed for nest boxes. I want a battery operated camera that connects to Wi-Fi. I looked at the ones available from TMB Studios (this website) but it looks like the available cameras have wires.
I would appreciate any recommendations.

East TennesseeMarch 5, 2022 at 6:14 pm #23889Hey, Carol. I’m not familiar with nestbox cameras except for the Blink. Looks like you’ll have to either change out your nestbox for a deeper one or decide on a different camera.
If you’re on FB, there are a lot of bluebird groups and I’m sure there are people there that have suggestions.
I know one guy that has cameras in his boxes but I know he uses blink cameras. I’ll ask him.Tammy

March 8, 2022 at 7:50 am #23911Thank you Tammy. I just switched to the Gilwood boxes this year because they are not preferred by HOSP. I want to use these boxes. I belong to a couple of bird groups on Facebook and just joined an Eastern Bluebird Facebook group as you suggested. It seems like most of them use Blink cameras and some of them use the Green Backyard bird camera.
I can’t tell if you have to have electricity for the Green Backyard battery operated nest box camera. I can follow directions but am not tech savvy. green-backyard.com

East TennesseeMarch 8, 2022 at 7:53 am #23912Tammy, I tried to put the Blink camera at the top of the top in the back, and it is too big for the boxes that I have. The Gilwood box has the hole at the very top of the box, and that’s why it doesn’t work. The birds wouldn’t be able to get in or out. It would be very difficult when the hole is at the top like these boxes are.
