My pair have their second nest after mama seemed to struggle getting material larger than the hole into the box. I was totally fooled by this female. I checked the nest and counted 4 eggs and she seemed to be incubating them and a week later I checked and there were 5. I had to look at the mirror twice to make sure what I was seeing was not a mistake.
Yesterday they seemed to be feeding so checked later in the afternoon and 3 were hatched. I did not check today, it was hot and humid with heavy rain storms this afternoon so hopefully if I can look in tomorrow I will find all 5 hatched.
Seems like it has been a good year so far for most of us.

Congrats, Connie – yes, seems to be a good year so far. Hope my heat shield takes care of the excess heat we will have in the next several days, since the boxes are in full sun. Should have four new baby blues by the weekend.

Connie congratulations! I agree this year seems like a better year than last year for the bluebirds!

Carol your bluebirds and mine seem to be on the same schedule. The 2nd batch of bluebird eggs are due to hatch in my box this weekend too. So awesome!

Hi Carol, thanks, the little ones seem to be doing well.
Did you install the heat shield and have the little ones hatched yet.

Connie, yes I got the heat shield on about 3 days before my little ones hatched on Saturday (THANK GOODNESS – have had temps in lower 90’s for several days) – one was a little later in the day than the first 3. I checked this morning and they seem to be okay, ugly, naked and pretty small like usual. I will look in the box about every 2 or 3 days to be sure all is okay – don’t like to bother too much. They will be beautiful before I know it.

Great to hear that all of you have had good hatches. I am looking for mine on Friday (6/18).
