Thank you all, I did get rid of the wasp nest and the birds did re-appear the next day, they just don’t seem to hang around very long though, but at least they seem to have returned.

I have another issue, yesterday both male and female were in and out of box building a nest and when we looked inside it was a very nice nest in process, but after I seen both this morning on the top of house then leaving and hadn’t come back all day that I could see, I opened the box a few minutes ago and seen a wasp had started a small nest hanging inside on the top of the box and I removed it but now afraid that the birds have moved on. Has anyone ever had this issue and what is the results? Should I just take out the nest and cap the door and wait to try again next year? I feel so bad I didn’t catch this sooner.
