I just got back from an appointment but did see the Dad giving food this morning and the wanna be taking a sac no none really hanging around much, but do all seem to come a peek in the box a lot and without any food?
Thanks all just concerned now about the new issue the wanna be mom (see my other post) 2 females. Can’t tell about the babies and don’t know to look and check or not because if they are ok I don’t want to make them fledge at the wrong time. So just doing nothing and worrying. Any other ideas the wanna be is still coming and going this morning even before I seen the real Mom?
She is still coming and going – removing sacks and feeding the babies some but not a lot? The real Mom kind of cashes her off, but not seriously and the wanna be looks like she is sneaking most of the time, hiding in the tree and on top of our shed then sneaks in just to look inside the box or go in for a minute most of the time when the Mom & Dad aren’t there? Maybe a Grandma? I just find this really weird! We did not get a chance to look in the box last night when my husband got home because of rain. The babies should be fledging this week some time, so should we try to look inside to see what is going on inside? Don’t want to make the babies fledge too soon and cause them a problem, but don’t know if they are ok or not? This is all strange to me!
Thanks Brad ☺ As for how old?
The other female keeps coming back and sticking her head in the hole, not feeding or anything and it looks like the Mom just tried to chase her away? Why is the happening?
I don’t think the baby’s are ready to go yet, but I can’t see inside the box, too short and my husband won’t be home for a couple hours yet, but he did say he thought he seen a baby BB out front yesterday grabbing a worm? Said it looked wobbly and not all the way an adult but he wasn’t sure and we haven’t checked the nest for a couple days because the last they looked like getting big enough to not want to scare them to fledge too soon and it could have just been a baby from another nest. The other female I see is bigger than the one that laid the eggs and been here all the while.
The Mom is still carrying out sacks,-

No, This is the 1st nesting we have ever had?
I don’t know why the website won’t come up? I put in the correct link to the photos? Worked on FB!
I would except there is no way the birds can get to the ant killer, the dog either. The only concern is the re-barb around the pole that is there to keep the pole up straight in the 25 – 45 hr winds we have had off an on lately. The plastic around the pole is also helping to cover that. The re=bard will be removed after the babies hatch so they cannot fall on it when trying to fledge. <http://www.raydene.com/special_5/s5.htm;

Thank You all for your info, we have the box on a metal pole and I cut a plastic Bleach bottle in half and wrapped around the bottom of the pole and sprinkled ant killer around the pole 1st because we have so many darn ants here and they move around a lot. Our pole is not round but a pole like one that holds new trees up from the wind. knock on wood no Sparrows interest here so far. And I let my dog out a lot during the day and she barks at everything, but seems to like the BB’s.
We have 4 eggs noticed on April 28 and a couple real windy days, with rain and colder but Mom hung around in the box and the parent birds are still coming around often now but not staying all the time as the weather is now warm enough to not have to sit on eggs, but tomorrow we are expecting here another bad morning then evening so keeping our fingers crossed. And we cancelled the chain saw until after the babies are gone the bushes are really to close to the box.Thank You Carol
Brad how did you post your photos here on site? I see no way except from another site?
