If that did happen I would not only post it – but I would enlarge it and frame it for my computer room. We don’t see many “over 5” nests with the EABL. I have seen on Facebook several western and mountain bluebird nest with 6. I think 5 is enough to worry about.

Stafford, VASo my second nest of 5 fledged this week and I cleaned out the box that night and left the door open to air out. The next morning there was pine straw in it and I thought I was crazy for not getting it all out. I closed the door after removing the pine straw and by day 2 a whole new nest is here with an egg in it. I have never seen anything like this! This is one prolific pair! So 10 already fledged and now to worry about the heat!
Wow that is fast Lisa. I guess she was anxious to get another group in before it gets too hot.

Stafford, VAThanks! I am totally shocked now because there were 4 eggs for 2 days and now 5? Strange to skip 2 days in warm weather and my calculations are all over the place…It’s late here for a 5 egg nest. We shall see. It would be amazing to fledge 15 in one year.
We just returned from a trip to Disney World with the grandkids. I looks like the 5 eggs hatched on time and the little ones seem to be doing fine, It was raining when i went out to check on them so I did not have the camera, Will get some photos tomorrow.

Stafford, VAI can see 4 of the 5. I am not sure whether there is an egg or little one under the visible birds. I thought I counted 5 when I checked the box last night. i will go out again to put up the heat shield.

Stafford, VAYou nailed the hatch date David. I can see 4 babies so far. Don’t know if that 5th egg is hidden in the pigpile or didn’t hatch.
