Thanks.
It’s curious why the young bluebirds came back.
That’s good having the nests at your own place. The nests I see on camera are at my brother and sister’s place. I almost have a new camera at my sister’s but an electrical problem needs to be fixed first. She had two different pairs of four this year.
Another sister has seen them in the suburb of her city. She got her husband to get her a birdhouse camera for this Christmas, which I already have. Just have to find the right time to go install it.
I’d really like to see them come to my birdhouses. They are in my little town. Hopefully next spring.Congrats on your success. Yes, always good to get to an empty nest.
I just happened to notice the mosquitoes because of the camera but I wonder if it’s more of a problem for the bluebirds than we know. Mosquitoes are probably attracted by the carbon dioxide that the birds are breathing out. I read today that plants like basil, marigold and rosemary may repel mosquitoes. Might be worth putting those close to the birdhouse. Hopefully the bluebirds don’t mind the smell, lol.
I try to think of ways of making the Gilbertson style. Besides the regular streaks of black paint on white pvc to imitate birch, I’ve done a couple of college themes, drawn bluebirds and cardinals on them. I’m not a very good artist though, lol.
The thing I don’t understand is why the Gilbertson birdhouses I’ve seen have dark insides to them which makes them hotter, Imo. I always put half circle vents at the top of mine too. Another reason I’m going with 6” is for more space between the bluebirds which may make it cooler in there.
I believe the pvc pipe is the same pvc that is used in home water lines.
It’s the green pvc. I did paint the outside white and striped it like a birch log. It has been hard to find thin white pvc in 6”.
Thanks Carol,
There’s a bit of a learning curve but it’s worth it to see what’s going on inside. It’s like standing outside of a movie theater otherwise.
I’m looking forward to seeing how well the 6” pipe size works for room.

I use the app for my phone and ipad to view up to four cameras live, with a slight delay, anywhere I have WiFi or a phone signal. The desktop app has up to 64 cameras I believe. There’s an alarm switch in the app for motion detection and it notifies you when there is something happening.
It’s from Green-backyard.com. The cameras I have are wireless except for the power source and it has an sd card slot up to 128 gb. They also have Poe ethernet cameras but without the sd slot. They are manual focus…..wish they were auto but I suppose there’s no room for it. Cameras measure about 2” x 2”.
I wanted to get the entrance hole and the birdhouse bottom in the same view so one side of the camera bracket is tilted toward the hole and located on the ceiling the opposite side of the hole. It’s a little better angle to see who’s at the doorway.
Better focus from the camera now.
There are four eggs now.

You’re welcome.
I’ve been having problems lately with that camera going offline even though they generally good cameras. It’s a bad time because this is the time things are happening inside of the birdhouse. Thanks
I did a test copy with the sound on but didn’t work.

Thanks Chris.
It doesn’t look like the sound works with the video unless I’m missing a setting.
