Carol- thank goodness you were able to get them through that ant incident. I wish you & your blues the best. Congrats!
Nicole
Deb- all I can say is I’m so sorry you experienced that devastation. Hopefully, Dad will find a new mate soon & they’ll rebuild. So sorry for your loss. Hope you & Papa blue have some good luck moving forward!

I’ve had a pair of CARW for ~ 3 years now & just love them. They seem to mind their own business & are always together. Little cuties!
Things still going ok here. They’re growing. Praying they’ll make it! Yours too!
Take a bar of soap & rub it across inside of top of box & maybe along back wall. Those wasps won’t be back. Make sure nest hasn’t been affected & just watch & see. Hopefully, they’ll be back.

I have a pair of Carolina Wrens that are always at my feeder, but haven’t seen a HOWR. However, this is the 1st time they’ve nested out back & I’m not able to observe from back there like before. Babies are 7 days old now & getting bigger.
Now that you’ve seen HOWR, that may explain what happened before. Are yours doing ok?
Gosh. So so sorry! Are there pesticides on lawn nearby? Surely, he’ll find a new mate soon!
Sorry for your loss!Nicole
When my blues were nesting in the courtyard where my dog often goes, they were not at all fazed by his presence. Wish you the best with your bluebirds!

My female did that last year pretty often. She’s not doing it in this box, though. Hope all goes well!

Yes, Gin, the streamers are touching the roof from front to back. The remaining 2 babies are still in box & doing well. Even though I’ve never seen HOWR, going to do wren guard from now on. Sometimes, there are as many as 20 HOSP in tree above box. EABL parents are always in that tree on guard. 2 babies left have made it 3 days since other 2 went missing. Praying it works out!

Yay Carol! Hope all continues to move forward nicely. I have some DE on hand just in case, but your experience reminded me to grease my poles.

So happy you’ve got bluebirds! Is there any way you could send a pic of the nests?

Hi Wild Blue Yonder. I put my baffle up after an egg was laid. I did it in evening when parents weren’t around. I had someone with me to hold box while I put baffle on. Then, we carefully put box back on pole. I guess you could always remove the egg & put it in a padded container while you’re changing it out. In my opinion, it’s better to have the baffle up to use all safety precautions possible. Forgive me if I misunderstood your baffle message. Hope all works out!

Like Lisa, my first boxes were in my courtyard right off my porch & too close to fence (now that I know what I know). Mostly, it worked out ok. Now, I need to move box in front yard because bush & tree have grown & it’s too close to them. We learn as we go!
Nicole
Oh, you’re cracking me up!
I definitely need to find a new hobby so I’m not so consumed with these birds. It’s hard not to, though!
