Connie…..That’s exciting news, congratulations! Sounds like you might be lucky enough to have two nests started. Hopefully they will build slowly until the weather shapes up. Here in Michigan we are expecting snow tomorrow. Have not seen any bluebirds yet this season.
Happy Birding,
Judy-MichiganJust checked in on the bluebird cam……2 eggs have hatched. Only see 3 other eggs. Originally there were 6 eggs. Mama blue was not on the nest when I first checked the cam, so I watched until she came back to the nest. She was gone much longer than I thought she would be…(maybe 40 minutes). The two babies were feed and she is sitting on the nest. All is well. Thank you LatanaAl for sharing your cam…..it’s awesome!!!

LantanaAl, Your live-stream bluebird cam was awesome!!! I just viewed mamablue sitting peacefully on the nest. I will be checking in on her often. Thank you so much for sharing. Our bluebirds do not stay around all winter. They have not returned yet, usually show up around May 1st.
Happy birding,
Judy-MichiganFinally…….I saw papa blue with one fledgling in the birdbath! It was exciting for me, I’ve been watching often in hopes to see them. I have to say they were very fast …..in and out in less than one minute. Maybe they had been there before and I missed it. I have not seen mama blue, she has very little coloring and laid the rarely seen pink eggs. I can still hear them in the trees, but they are not hanging out in sight. It’s been a fun season, I’m looking forward to next spring. Happy birding!

This was my first season with any success, 2 nests, ten eggs……. only 3 fledglings. I’m hoping each year will be better than the last. Biggest problem here are the house wrens. They are so sneaky! If the bluebirds leave the nest unattended they are in there ruining the eggs. I have been watching for the blues to bring their family to my birdbaths, but haven’t seen them yet. Some evenings I will see them on the high wires just before dusk. Many times I think I can hear them in the trees, but can’t spot them. I had a lot of fun checking on their nests and watching their actions around the nesting box with the TRES in the paired box. I’m looking forward to next season and hopefully more fledglings. Best wishes to all.

Howdy Countrygirl, TRES are fun too! I have 2 sets of paired boxes. One for the TRES and the other for the Bluebirds. My only successful fledglings were from paired boxes when they were both occupied. 3 bluebirds and 5 tres. When the BB had a nest with 5 eggs and the other box was vacant……their nest was ruined by the house wrens, all eggs were broken. I never knew this birding was such a tough business. Although it also rewarding. Welcome back.

Connie, congratulations on 3 new eggs. My 3 fledged last Thursday (one week ago). I’ve seen papa blue in the birdbaths, but not the mama or fledgling. Not sure where they are hanging out. So cool you get to see them hanging out around your yard. Hope you see the youngsters helping out with the new nest. Best of luck to you.

Update……all 3 bluebird babies fledged this morning. Of course they waited until I was gone to fledge. I’m so excited this is my very 1st successful nest and the eggs were a pale pink, making it extra special. I cleaned the box…..hoping they might make one more nest. They were both hard working parents, sharing the feeding responsibilities, they made a great team. I do hope to see the family feeding in my yard or in one of the birdbaths.

How exciting!!! Hope she gets busy soon with egg laying. My 3 baby blues just fledged this morning. I have the bluebird that lays pink eggs. I too hope she will build one more nest. I cleaned the box so it’s ready and waiting. I can hear the bluebirds in the trees, but haven’t seen them yet. I would really enjoy seeing them feed their young.

Update – One egg hatched each day until all 3 were hatched. Yes, the hatchling are pink, LOL. Mama and Papa are feeding. Yesterday was super hot, so I added a piece of thick white styrofoam with a 1/2” space to the roof. The Blues accepted it immediately…..the Tres in the paired box were totally freaked out by it. It took both the male and female 6 plus attempts before they would fly into the box. All is well……cooler temps coming tomorrow.
Awesome photo of the bald eagle! We saw one in flight this year in our neighborhood. I would like to see it up close. Perfect picture for the 4th of July. Thank you for sharing.

David……thank you for the directions on how to post a photo. I enjoy seeing your posts with photos, maybe this will also help others be able to include a picture with their posts. Many Thanks.

Pink eggs from Bluebirds that looked just like the Tres eggs …….as they matured they seemed to get whiter. I’m so excited the first of 3 has hatched today after 12 days of brooding.
