I’ve never had problems with them dive bombing my dog until this year. Made me so nervous because my dog is blind. Needless to say, he won’t be going potty around there during nesting season anymore (unless I can get him a helmet too). LOL
Congrats, Dana! So exciting!!
Nicole
Aww. I wish them much safety & health!

It’s ok, Lisa. Just call me the crazy bird lady. LOL.
Nicole
So upsetting, Deb. So very sorry for your loss!
Nicole
Lisa-
Getting closer! Glad you’ve gotten through day 16! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Caroline-
Wishing you the best of luck with bluebird eggs & chickadees!
Nicole
Dlibby-
Like Gin said, my male last year was scarce during incubation of 3 successful broods. Like yours, mine showed up upon hatching. I also saw him with another female on occasion. Thought at the time that he was “two timing.”
This year, my male is much more attentive. So glad yours is back again!
Nicole
Mine have always been day 18.
I went to garage to look at hole reducers & chickadees can take 1 & 1/8″ reducer after egg’s been laid. It should keep HOSP & EABL out. They really need our help! Hope it all works out!
Hi Mark-
Welcome! My bluebird parents have always been comfortable with me checking the box until the babies are born. The male especially dive bombs me when I open the box to check on the babies. Crazy me wears my bike helmet in that case. Plus, predators got two on the first brood, so now, they are even more protective. I think it just varies with parents’ dispositions & if they’ve been threatened by predators. When that happens, I’m sure they feel that they can’t trust anyone or anything. I still monitor- just with my helmet on.

Lisa, I don’t understand why yours aren’t staying either. Your climate should keep them there. Maybe they’re just in the habit of leaving. BTW, don’t think you’re doing anything wrong.

Hey Brad- I’ve got a small yard too & have my bluebird box in front yard with a big obnoxious baffle. Lots of cars & people walk by on nearby sidewalks. Had 3 EABL broods last year (15 total fledged) & 5 baby TUTI (tufted titmice) in there now. Put up a box in back this year & that’s where EABL are now. I can’t believe I haven’t heard from the HOA!

Congrats, Randy & Connie! Gin, I hope you get some activity soon. Lisa& Randy, hope all goes well when you’re away!
Nicole
Lisa- I hope yours hatch before you leave & your pet sitter can help keep watch. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Nicole
My two (after 2 disappeared in early stages) should fledge Thurs. or Fri. when David’s & Lisa’s should hatch. I wish each one of you & your blues the best!
