” found some stuff in the box.” I’m sure you know this already but wrens only use sticks so if it is anything else it isn’t a house wren.
Tammy
Yay!

It could be that something happened to one or both of those birds and a new pair just hasn’t found your place. ?? Bummer. Hopefully you see them for another nesting this summer.
Tammy
It’s just weird how in the some of the northern states they stay but yet in the southern ones they leave. Doesn’t make any sense to me but that’s just how it is!
Tammy
Lisa, nice that you talked someone into giving mealworms when you’re away. I have no one. We asked our neighbor once when the babies were newborn and the temps were in the single digits but he’s a gruff elderly man and I can’t bring myself to ask him again.

Mine just laid eggs in NW Ohio.
Tammy
Yes, definitely. I’ve done it with martins but not bluebirds.
Tammy
Some people think that two holed houses are the way to go….so this is interesting. Thanks for sharing, Phillyblues.
Tammy
I’m in NW Ohio and they over winter here too.
Tammy
Congrats on your eggs. How many do you have now? What was in that second box?
Tammy
So sorry. It usually doesn’t take long for them to find a mate.
Tammy
Maybe you could put up a second box and hopefully the bluebirds will check it out and try that one an easy maybe the wrens will stay with that box. A lot of maybes. Then you could put a wren guard on that one when the first egg is laid.
Tammy
And your positive that it is not a house sparrow, right?
Tammy
Tree swallows put feathers in their nests. Could you have had tree swallows nest in it this past year?
