Well I hadn’t seen any activity at my box since the original sighting. I just went out and peeked inside this morning to find three small sticks inside. Which if memory serves me correctly that’s the start of a wren nest. Thoughts or advice? I have not seen a wren in my area for some time. It’s an open area with no brush.
Thank you for all the responses. I am from Nixa Mo.
David my box is on a single pole with a baffle attached below. The opening has a square over it attached at a 45 degree angle (rotates). Believe it’s to prevent squirrel damage to the hole?
Sadly I haven’t seen him since June 1. Wish I was able to post videos because I got the three to four minutes video up to when the robin chased him away. My fingers are still crossed. Any ideas on if the box is chosen how soon they will return🤦🏼♀️? I’m just impatient. I’m sure it will play out in time. I’ll let you guys know if there is any new developments.
Thank you once again for all your time.
Bob
Carol,
Same, I have seen a pair wondering around my area but not nest yet. I’m still hopeful.
Awesome sight, thank you for sharing. Congrats. Carol I have a neighbor 3 houses north of me with a pair. There have been 5 hanging out in the same area. Think that is the brood from last year still hanging around the parents? If so I’m hoping one of them find my box to the south. ❤️
Yes, I moved from the country side of Barry County, Missouri to the town of Nixa Missouri. The area I live in is on the out skirts of town but I have a big open area behind my house that backs up to a highway. EBird has logged blue birds in this area in the last few years and less then a month after moving in and putting out a birdbath (November 17) I had a bluebird pair stop by for a drink. So I know they are here. Here is to hoping.
Congrats that’s amazing. I’m a little late to the party I just placed my box out tonight, 😳
Welcome back ma’am. Sorry to hear about your dog. Excited to have your experience again in the group.
Bob
SW MissouriNo sure don’t.
Bob
Thank you for the input, excited to see what happens throughout the fall and winter.
Carol is right I live in southern Missouri just north of the Arkansas state line. Carol would you mind sharing your recipe for the peanut suet? Thank you guys for the input. I have a ground trap I need to invest in an inbox trap.

Don’t forget me. I’m in SW MO, so that makes 3 of us. :). With my 3 boxes up this year I didn’t have any BB nests. I had a pair of HOSP attempt to build in two of my boxes. I was able eradicate that problem but nothing else went for them. A little saddening. On the positive side I have daily BB visitors to my yard and birdbath which is fun to watch. Just in the last two days I have a juvenile BB hanging around my birdbath. It will actually camp out for a lot longer then it’s parents. How often does a Juvenile stay in the area of
It’s parents? Mean will this possible BB stay close enough to nest in my boxes next year. Just curious. Thanks-

Thank you for the feed back. Yes all three boxes have threes with that distance. I’ll turn the west facing box SE and see what I get. Still have the fingers cross for a late nesting.
Haha beautiful pictures and sight to help you recover from surgery. Glad you have such a sight to pass the time. Thank you for sharing.
Knowing your area would help quite a bit, but it resembles the parasitic brown headed cowbird that will lay eggs in other birds nests (host). The bird will actually hatch and be raised by the parents of the blue eggs. I would suggest removing it. I’d get the suggestion of a second though.

Haha yes they are, mud and grass every where.
I currently live on 90 acres. That being said an acre of it is fenced off three side of ky house. The front yard being the biggest area with two huge trees spread about 50 feet apart. I’m surrounded by cow fields on three sides (with the fence) that has waist high grass in them. Across the street is a hat field also about waist high. The neighbor across the street keeps the ditch line mowed nicely and that’s where I see a lot of my blue activity. They setup on the power line in the front yard and hunt from there. I currently have three nest boxes up all three from wild birds unlimited 1 wood and the other 2 that indestructible plastic. So real nice boxes. They are placed in metal polls (the poll set from wild birds unlimited) with a baffle. My house faces south which is where the road runs east/west in front of it. I have two houses setup on the west side of my house facing southeast. One is in the front yard approximately 7 feet from the barbwire fence. It’s the closest one to where the BB’s feed. The other one is approximately 300 feet away toward the back of my house also 7 feet from the fence facing southeast. The third is on the opposite side of the house facing west in the front yard area. There all baffled and face open space. The road I live on is a country road and doesn’t recieved much traffic at all.
I hope that gives you some what of a clear picture. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you for the assistance.
