That is amazing. Thank you for sharing and the pictures are phenomenal.
I may not of had a BB in my nest box this year but yesterday I was lucky enough to observe mommy and daddy training two young fledglings how to hunt for bugs in my front yard. They would glide down from a tree in my front yard then hop right back up into the branches. It was quite a sight not having seen this before.
Just read up on this today actually. The statement on the Salis website was ” Better late then never.” It did go on to state watch it once you put it on and stated further “At least an hour to see if they accept it.” Hope that helps.
Interesting remedy, I’ll give it a try, thank you.
Well I tried the mixed seed suggestion yesterday as I was feeling all my feeders. When I got up this morning all my seed around the trap and behind the trap door was gone. Guessing coons?
Haha that’s good news
Interesting read, thanks for sharing.
I’ll give some of them a try. I used cardboard as my flooring. I’ll try some French fries. The wind is strong where I’m at right now so I have some small issues with keeping the millet from blowing away.
No unforantly this is my only method at the moment to catch one.
Congrats, what a wonderful sight.
Hi guys, looking for some suggestions. I’ve had my trap going on three weeks now and haven’t had any luck. I’ve used millet in hopes to deter other types of birds but it seems it’s not working on the HOSP’s either. I’ve tried placing it on the ground and also elevating the trap in three different locations. First by my BB box that they tried to take over, then under the feeders. I’ve now moved it it to a bush area where I see them camp. Still nothing. I do have mealworms and haven’t tried using them yet. If I was to go that route, do you put them inside the trap I suppose? Because if I put them near the entrance they will most likely crawl off on me. Just looking for ideas, thanks.

Congrats. It appears I got skunked my first year. I did have a pair of HOSP I’ve been dealing with and now have a trap for. Please keep us updated.
That’s exactly what mine is. Did you place yours a little bit off the ground? It was suggested just lifting it a little bit above the ground. I also put cardboard underneith it to make it look like it has a floor. I am using millet. I set it by a nesting box where they had a nest a few days ago before I ripped it out. So far no luck though. I’ll let you know of I get one. Thanks for the advice.
Hey guys, just bought a deluxe repeating sparrow trap. Going to use millet to attract my first victims. Outside that do you guys have any experience with the use of this trap. Suggestions are welcome. Thank you.
Thank you for the second message, it was readable. Appreciate you taking the taking the time to do that.
