Welcome, Troy. It will be a great adventure ahead. My biggest advice is to make sure you eliminate sparrows as much as humanly possible all year round. Critical to make it a safe area for bluebirds or there will be lots of heartache and dissapointment. Good luck!
They sell foambard insulation at home depot and lowes. It is easy to cut up with a blade. Perhaps you could stick some pieces of it on the box exterior?

Thanks. I put mine up today while they watched. Then they fought off swarms of tree swallows, so don’t think they were as worried about the baffle…i love tres but they were stressing the bluebirds out
I’m in SE PA. Near Philly. Not sure I have ever seen a white crowned sparrow, but maybe I assumed they were white throated aince they look similar. I just knew that weather wasn’t going to stay warm…the juncos knewwww….dropped to 60 degrees today with no sunshine. Could be worse I guess.
🤣Hahaha! I was thinking the same thing the past few days. It has been so nice out but I just cannot relax until the white throats and juncos leave! I was telling my wife, there must be cold weather ahead because those birds always know! White throats are singing like crazy too. Hopefully they get on their way soon.
Having oriole withdraw. I was blessed with 2 plus straight months of daily feeder visits. Been about 5 days of no sightimgs…but itnwas great while it lasted. Hope she comes back to nest.
This has been the most peaceful spring in a long long time. I haven’t seen or heard a sparrow in days. It is so nice. My work over the winter is paying off I think. I know it will be a never ending battle, but I feel I have already made a big difference taking out about 80 plus or so.
Dang! That stinks! I found some also over the winter as well, only secondary feathers so I don’t know if it was killed or not. So many hawks in our area.
Excellent. My brother has two going as well. One in the front and one in the way back, but not quite 100 yards apart.

Make that 5 this month! They keep coming. Working from home makes this easier to manage too. I convinced a nearby neighbor to start trapping too.

Carol they should have Junco day instead of Groundhog day. I just want them to leave so spring can actually start…haha.
I trapped 3 males with the van ert this month. Between that trap and the cage trap I caught 74 this winter! Always paranoid I’ll catch a good bird with van ert, But so far so good. I hope I put a decent dent in the hosp pop.
Sorry to hear. I know the feeling!
I am, but unfortunately after just walking the dogs the sparrows are ready too. They’re everywhere. Still enjoying my daily oriole visits.
Cool. I actually saw a mealworm feeder(dry?) The other day by perky pets. It looks like a normal plastic tube feeder (blue). I wondered if it actually works.
