Strange. Hope they hatch. It’s been a weird season for me too. I had 3 new eggs recently and only one hatched. This might be my only time to have 3 eggs and it IS my only time that only one baby hatched!!

Wren’s are sneaky so I doubt you will see them. But if they destroy eggs they usually start putting sticks in soon after. (Some one correct me if that is wrong) House sparrows will sit on top and chirp and poop on the roof of your nestbox. Did you see wounds on your dead birds? Wrens don’t attack older babies…I’d say 5 days and older. I don’t have many wrens but I’m dealing with them with my friends boxes. I don’t think that they normally peck the chicks to death. Usually they only take tiny babies out and pierce eggs. Are you sure it isn’t house sparrows?

David, just saw your question. Do you have an edit button at the top of that post? (The one you need to add a photo to?)If so I think you can add a photo. If not, I may be able to add it for you…or just add to the bottom of this thread. That would be the easiest.

I’m glad it doesn’t get that hot up here, although tomorrow it’s suppose to be 100. But it never stays like that.

I’m wondering if she laid later in the afternoon the day before you saw them. To me that’s more plausible than her laying 2 in a short amount of time.

Never ever have had pink eggs. Only my TRES eggs are slightly pink. Cool.

You could always strap some ice packs to it. ?? I’m thinking that only a couple of days of heat won’t hurt. Think of the bluebirds in TX….it’s hot there.

So sorry, Renee. I hate wrens!! I haven’t seen many here but I have one friend that had wrens destroy eggs and another friend and my daughter that had to use Wren guards.

I love Rainbow Mealworms. Try like you said to offer it when there are babies. I’m not sure why yours aren’t finding them.

Maybe if you truly don’t feel they are getting enough nutrition you could supplement feed them little pieces of mealworms for a couple of days. I’ve done that with baby martins to give them a boost.
