I think everyone’s situation is different. I see my birds all day long …morning noon and right before nighttime. Or there are some days where I don’t see them at all. It’s different for everyone.

I have bluebirds checking out their normal box at our house and one full bluebird nest on the trail. I’ve also trapped two hosp in my boxes yesterday!

Carol, that happened to me once in my Gilwood. I wouldn’t worry about using a hole reducer. It doesn’t happen very often. Usually only happens in the spring when the strings are a little skinnier.

I need to open my bluebird’s normal box and show them that the dead HOSP that I found in their earlier is gone because they won’t go in their box this year and are trying to nest further away. Not a good thing because I can’t watch it well.

Grr…this has happened to me several times and I’ve even felt around in the box through the plastic bag and then thought that the wind must have tripped the trap but when I took the bag off the darn HOSP flew away.

Hi, Lori. Welcome. Just check occasionally to make sure the next isn’t soaked, like Carol mentioned. That’s all you need to do. If you find that your box keeps getting rain water in it then you’d need to modify it some how but for now just check on it after heavy storms or blowing rain. Of course make sure the hole points away from prevailing winds which I’m sure you’ve already done. Congrats on your eggs.

Weird. It really does look like yarn. Zoom on it by doing CTRL and the plus sign and see how we think that. If it was a mocker that yarn would make sense.

But usually robins eggs don’t have those light brown large spots. How about a mocker.

I remember your crazy momma but don’t remember her broken toe.
Here she is building. This will make Fred happy when he sees it since it’s his box.
