I have had that happen, I just leave the egg in the nest. If mama blue wants it out she can move it to the side. Never had one break in the nest. I don’t like to interfere too much.

Dave, before they hatched we had 5 nights below 32 degrees lowest temp was 27 degrees. Out of 5 eggs only one hatched. After hatching we have had 5 nights 32 degrees or less, lowest being 28 degrees. The super baby is hanging in there, we’re on day 7 where the feathers start to open out of their sheaths. The coldest night next week is 33 degrees. I’m hoping it keeps hanging on.
I have had my box wrapped like yours from the get go. Your box even looks like mine, it’s a nature’s way box. It’s always the first box they choose. Thanks for sharing your photo, I enjoyed seeing it.
Congratulations on your new hatchling hope the others hatch today too.

Thanks for sharing photos and videos I enjoy seeing them all. They are great quality too.
Lisa….your baby birds look about the same age as mine. My single baby hatched on 4/22/23. It’s been so cold here, I’m still worried about hypothermia. Hope mama blue continues to keep it warm at night.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. I took a screenshot, so I can bring it up next time I want to post a picture. I really like seeing posted pictures and videos.

Great that you have the same pair. Did you get another egg today? We’re still having a cold spell, saw some snow coming down….mama blue was peeping out of the box. Crazy spring weather.

So exciting, let’s hope you get #5 tomorrow. Do you think it’s the same pair you had last season? Happy Birding.

Yay!!! I was able to view them, they were all awesome. The blink camera does a great job with clarity and sound. My favorite was 4/18/23 ….where she is peacefully incubating. Your mama blue is a beauty. Thanks for sharing.

Well……it’s 24 hours later and still only 1 hatchling. Now I’m thinking maybe the others will not hatch. Time will tell. I’m feeding extra live mealworms 3X a day because there are not many bugs out, it’s too cold here. The forecast is not looking good either.

Ok…..this time it took me to a page with a picture of one bluebird sitting on top of a bluebird house, titled The Blue Box. No other pictures or videos. Must be a work in progress?

Hi Dave, I did a cut and paste for your above site, PRIVATE SITE -log in ….was all that came up. I would like to see your videos. I’ll try again later.

Nice picture David……..Do you have to worry about freezing nights in VA???
Good Luck,
Judy – MichiganGood news ….1 of the five eggs hatched today. Hope the others are hatched in the next 24 hours. It’s a day later than I had calculated, but it had been cold here. I still have 3 sides of the box covered with insulated and wool socks on the underside. Expecting five more freezing nights in a row. Brrrr.
Happy Birding,
Judy – MichiganThanks for sharing your picture. Interesting that she mostly has her eyes open. Someone on Facebook with a camera in the box reported…..their mama blue was very restless and only settled down for about 30 minutes the entire night. Mama blue has a stressful job.

Carol….My mealworms from last fall did not get larger. They might have if I feed them every 10 days. I tried to keep them dormant. They are gone now, we’re on to a new batch.
Dana….I would be bummed too if my bluebirds used a neighbors box. You are right, It’s not the same.

Not sure how you store your live mealworms, but I had some leftover mealworms from last September and they were still alive this April. They have been stored in a ground oatmeal bed in the refrigerator with feeding them carrots one a month. I’m sure all will workout. Come on blues we are waiting‼️
