Interesting conversation. Mine has slots at the top sides. No drainage holes. Somehow stayed dry during the tropical storm. Those were super scary days for me…
Hope yours are OK! Number 3 arrived today. I sure hope they know more than I do because the heat here can be brutal. Surprisingly the 10 day forecast has only on day of 90 degrees. Very unusual for here. Humidity 83% but I don’t think humidity is harmful to the birds?
I so wish I could do an umbrella. Snakes, I fear, would climb the pole and I’m too lazy to do another Kreuger trap honestly.
Congrats every one! Three eggs today for my insane duo!
Maybe yours will be insane like mine and try again! Three eggs again…
But I do hate that empty nest feeling. Maybe you will get to see the babies coming to the mealworm feeder..That is so fun.
PS i’ve missed every fledge ever. LOL.Second egg today. I wouldn’t be sad if she stopped at two.
Shoebox wren guard up and it reall does seem to provide more shade. Mama was in within 30 minutes.
Thanks..I was feeling kind of dumb on that one!
Thanks for the inspiration Carol! I’m definitely no expert but the neighborhood is ideal and I’ve memorized Sialis so I should be good to go!
Sounds like a good Sunday project for me! Thank you! Wrens are still around but I was hoping they were done with mating mode…unlike my crazy blues!
Thanks Carol! That answered pretty much all of my concerns!
There is always something new to learn! I am terrified of public speaking but would love to give a talk to our neighborhood garden club as we are on a golf course and an ideal site for nesting.
First egg today so only a day early. First HOSP I have ever seen in my yard and he fled from papa blue quickly.
Now I have a wren guard dilemma…see post above…That was my dilemna…
They didn’t even have an egg but were super tolerant. Once they are invested they will put up with even more!
