Good luck Whitney…Mine had a funny nesting this last go round, one hatched on day 14 and the others a day later. Like Gin reminds me, they don’t always read the books…Fingers crossed.
I let the feral cat ladies feed the strays in my front yard. I’m sure that’s what attracted Rocky raccoon. I also have a fish pond to worry about. It’s always something!
I have greased my pole to the hilt but soooo worried!
Gorgeous photo! And I was worried about my new resident raccoon!
And after 15 years in my house I found a huge raccoon on my screened in deck last night. Never ever had a raccoon here. It’s always something!!
Gin, it was so easy before I had boxes I could monitor. It all started by accident when I found a cute bird house that I hung as a decoration. The blues took it over and fledged many for several years until a snake came along and turned me into a nervous wreck. Now it’s poles, Kreuger traps, monitoring, stress, stress, and more stress. LOL. I yearn for the good old days!
The babies all look alike to me!
Randy, mine are on round 3. First nest lost multiple eggs. I guess HOWR.Two survivors sadly died at a few days old. Then fledged five. Now have week old cuties!!!
Good news is that after a big storm we usually get a break in heat and humidity. Hope this holds true…
They look fantastic! Wish I wasn’t too lazy to do the photo upload. All a week old today and feather sheaths popping out. So cute!
It was awful. 8 inches of rain 2 days in a row and tornadoes everywhere. It’s a miracle they kept the babies fed and dry!!!
Definitely a good sign!! I would expect nesting any day! Mine were at it within a week….
Wish we had those here! Enjoy!
My post office automatically holds them when it’s hot, too. I hate stinky mealworms! I order mine on Amazon. Will have to check what company…
I hated to give up the wren guard but they are 7 days tomorrow so I’m feeling better about that.
