Mine always try for 3 but start in February and historically have lost at least one nest. Thrilled that the weather has remained not too terrible and my last 3 should fledge in a few days. Now, if they tried again I would be really worried…
So sorry! At least he was loved and cared for until the very end. xoxo
I hated taking mine off early but so far they are looking good at day 12. Now snakes are the biggest worry but I am guarded up….

Oh Sassy, I am soooo sorry! I’ve cried so many times over these babies. Just try to dwell on all the ones the world be without if you weren’t in it. That’s all I can do to feel better when the inevitable tragedy happens. Hugs and more hugs//// Lisa

I am soooo sorry. That is horrible and heartbreaking :(
Hugs. I know how bad it hurts :(The tropical storm took my wren guard off early this year…maybe 5-6 days, but the rain was so severe I was afraid it would get plastered over the hole. Luckily, all went well….we are at day 11 and huge. Last time I left it up 7 days. The winds just kept blowing it off this time so I took my chances!
It just goes that way! But they always keep trying! I promise…
Prayers for your babies! I cried so hard when I had to bury two from my first nest this year :(
Yay! Been there too many times! But they do keep tryin!
Is mom still incubating them? The kindest thing is to leave them alone until mom figures out they are infertile….
Mine was at it 7 days post fledge.
Dene, I am in the South and have 2 nestings if they all fledge, 3 if something goes wrong. This is just observational over 6-7 years. No scientific basis mind you!
Ha ha Gin! I couldn’t live without you!
