I am way south and on round two. I feel very sure you will have eggs soon. Mine literally toyed with me just like yours for almost a month. They just know when it’s time!

Nicole, I can’t wait to talk to you. Congrats on the babies! I’m sure you would not appreciate the midnight calls I would have to make this week.New job is ridiculous and interfering with my bird watching! Grrr! I need to retire!
I have a partier bird mom this year who waits for happy hour! Another egg after installing the wren guard. Just found it at 10 when I got home. Woot!
I wouldn’t think of it as a risk. I had my blues about 10 feet from my house for years…
Please Please if you are in the south look at snake guards. I went for years innocently without problems until last year. A rat snake can easily climb up a fence. Hopefully you will luck out this year…it took many years for the snakes to get mine. But when they do, it’s tragic. They take all of them just a few days before fledging. I would be happy to share my hideous Krueger guard contraptions with you (that my HOA hates) LOL!
PS I’ve never had squirrels show any interest in my mealworms or bird houses! Bluebird dad chases them off so I guess they must be some sort of threat!
I started out with a speaker stand a ceramic bowl for my mealworm feeder before I eventually got eaten out of house and home and bought the cage type.
I’ve never seen HOSP in my yard but after losing my first nest this year I bought a sparrow spooker online and put it up after the first egg,
Also, as much as it pained me, I took all of the seed feeders out of my back yard and moved them to the front where I could still watch all of the Bluejays, doves, cardinals, and squirrels.
Welcome to bluebirding! It is amazing but sometimes heartbreaking when things go wrong. Keep reading here and on Sialis.org and you will be an expert in no time.
It started out as a relaxing hobby for me but it can get stressful when creepy things like snakes and mean birds break your heart.
I think most of us have been through it all.
I may have the most snake experience sadly but I think I’ve fixed that…
Welcome, sincerely, LisaMine was accepted too! Yay! Dad is not impressed though as he quit bombing me as he used to but I have 3 eggs now so I think mom is fine with it…
Thanks Carole and Nicole! I have a strange mom this time who lays late in the day so this morning after putting up the sparrow spooker the night before I still only had one so left the wren guard off. Tonight at 10 PM I was out there with a flashlight and saw 2 eggs. So I will very nervously put up the wren guard tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed!!!!

I just put up the red and silver Mylar tonight. Hope it works as well for me!
So excited! Can’t wait for photos! One egg today…Hope springs eternal….
Even my forum friend in the Northern part of the state has hers overwinter! For me, the first harbinger of spring is that lone male who always shows up in February!
Well heck! Where do mine go!!!!
