Thanks very much for posting.
So, if i have a stack of 3 trays, is the one on the top the only one that has a screen for the bottom? Or is it the top two trays?
If i could produce enough to be able to feed 150 mealworms a day that would be awesome. My current attempt failed, they turned into their next phase quicker than i expected.
V/r,
ChrisNice!

A guy where i live used to modify PVC birdhouses to make them more log-like. He sprayed them with 3M adhesive, sprinkled them with sawdust, and painted them brown when they dried. He had a bluebird trail in the park district, the bluebirds did use them, but he did say he had to touch up the paint on them now and then.
He had pictures and instructions on how he made them, if i come across them at home i will scan them and post them. I couldnt find anything similar online.

Hi David,
No, i just see the one response.
Thanks,
ChrisCarol,
The timing of mine is similar, nest has 5 eggs, started incubating 6 July. When i whistle at feeding time, mom comes out of the box. I can recognize the fledgelings at a distance, they still aren’t great fliers.

SW OhVery nice resolution.
What kind of camera are you using? is it wireless?
Thanks,
Chris
SW Ohi dont know if bluebird nut can do videos/sound, but the pictures are awesome. i like the bright blue color.
When you go to your photo in imgur, there are a whole bunch of urls to the right.
On the one that says BBCode, click copy.
Then on bluebird nut, at the top of the message bar click IMG, and paste the img url into that box. When you hit return, you will see a whole bunch of text in your message, but when you post the message, you will see the photo. Then you can go back and edit the message if you need to.

Bill,
This is a test message to see if i can get photo to post.
Chris
SW OhioWelcome Bill.
I think the spooker should prevent the sparrows. This is only my second year of using them, and so far not being bothered with the sparrows. More room in the nest sounds like a good idea.
I’d like to see pictures of your birdhouse camera set up. To post pictures here, ive been using an app called imgur, its just a third party website you can upload your picture to, and cut and paste the link into your message.
Thanks,
Chris
SW OhioIts 6 pm and i notice the 2nd egg has been laid, so i put up the sparrow spooker, waiting to see if mom accepts it. (i didnt see the first egg til almost dark.)
I finally saw the fledgelings from the previous nesting, they are in maple tree in my yard now, and this time dad was taking mealworms to each individual bird.
I have so many wrens i am assuming i should try the wren guard, its something ive never done. i do have a couple of days off from work so i have time to mount one and remove it if they don’t accept it.
Chris
SWOhioHad the first blue egg laid today, 2 July.

I don’t have any advice but sorry about your loss. I think there is still time for another bluebird’s nest.
I remember in year’s past, i had a BB nest destroyed, eggs tossed out – i blamed sparrows but in retrospect that was probably wrens.

SW OhioNot many starlings here in warm weather. They must sense they are not welcome.
Many years ago i helped my dad build a Troyer starling trap, its huge, probably 4 x 5 x 4 feet, V-shaped hardware cloth funnel on top, and a door, you can actually go in the trap. He would wait til he got 30 to 50 starlings in there, go in with a small fishing net, catch them and put them in a bag.
He was operating it in view of the street, and one day as he crawled out of the trap with a bag of starlings some lady had her car parked giving him a strange look. I smile when i think of that. I had somebody this winter tap their brakes and give me a look when i carried a DRST trap full of starlings around to the back yard.
Thats great news, and encouraging for those of us wanting to get second broods started.
