I’m on Facebook, when my grandson was born my daughter said it was time to do it! Lol
His name his Drew. I now know what people were talking about with the love you have for a grandchild!
Thanks so much!
I would love to post some pictures of Bluebirds on here, what am I missing? How do I do it? So sorry if it’s obvious!Hi Gin, I’m Lisa btw.
My daughter and grandson live very close. I babysit a lot and love him to pieces!
He is already watching the birdies!!!
Thanks for asking!❤I have searched everywhere and can’t find owner. We have certainly enjoyed him and looks like he found himself or her self a new home! Great little bird!
YEAH!!!!!!!!
I was going to say maybe in the morning, but didn’t want to disappoint!!!
Good luck!I have 7 TRES eggs that should be hatching the end of the week or so. I do check on the eggs daily, as I walk up to the box I make sure she hears my voice for a minute or two and stand a few feet away. Usually she does fly out. I hope for this to be my first successful brood and 7 sure is exciting. I had 3 killed by Sparrows last year.
I’m no pro on them but my nest was very “weakly made” when the first 3 eggs we’re laid. They too were on the bottom of the box. It seemed like she somehow added more grass and moved them around when she laid the 4th. There were only like 2 feathers but when she laid the 6th the box was so full of feathers I couldn’t see the eggs!
It is rare to not have either mom or dad in the box, but they seem more comfortable with me and it gets easier and easier to coax them out.
Good luck to all!I’m in south eastern Pa. My five Blues successfully fledged on May 18, I’m still seeing 4 of the 5 little kids. Momma just laid her fifth egg again yesterday so I don’t think your timing sounds too off. Good luck, it’s so exciting to watch isn’t it? Hope you get that pretty blue egg soon!
That would be a dream come true for me!
They are some greet photos as well.
Good luck with all!
AWESOMEI would agree. Usually right after mine have fledged the only way to find them for the few days is to feed the parents and watch with binoculars to find them. What a rewarding feeling to see that first one, which are usually huddled with the others.
Hello Scot, my name is Lisa. I see you are from Collegeville Pa., I’m in Phoenixville!
Good luck to you!Momma still going strong! All 5 successfully fledged a week and are doing well.
Mom is now showing interest in her new beau, even letting him feed her! I figured they would turn around and do it again but a pair of Tree Swallows took their box! Hopefully they will go to another box on our property!
I took a ton of pictures of the 5 little ones, as I was a male Robin came and grabbed one of the little blues and tossed it on the ground! Terrible thing to see.
It is a rough world out there!Thank you for all of this information. I feel terrible that I didn’t know these things in time. Live and learn!
Since it happened on my fathers property, he also does Sparrow patrol so hopefully he is gone!Another update on my 5 that fledged on Wednesday. As like other years my little ones are out and about, they have skipped around from tree to tree. Bluejays have been somewhat of a nuisance, but momma doesn’t let her babies down or me either! She is a tough cookie!
Since the loss of daddy a new man is trying to help and win momma over. He doesn’t feed the young but helps get them from place to place and protects them. It seems momma is beginning to show interest in him hmmm…another brood in the future????
With the help of binoculars I saw all 5 huddled in a row on a branch of a tall tree near my home. What a joy it was to see!I count day 1 as the first day after all eggs hatched, in a few of my broods it has been 16-18 days.
Just so happened that today was the 18th day for my 5 bluebirds, and all 5 fledged!Yes I guess you were wondering about that name!
I haven’t updated “single momma ” for a few days.
She amazes me! All 5 babies are looking good. Now there are 2 males that seem to be helping her guard the box. I’m pretty sure they are her sons from last year. They are both comfortable with my usual feeding arrangements and come right to my kitchen window. They don’t seem to be helping with feeding but hang out around the property. Thanks for all the comments and concerns.
