Thank you Dana. It is good being back.
Connie (PA)Hi David, that is a good number for early in the season.
Thanks for the update.
ConnieAww Matt your babies are adorable. Hope the last egg hatched.
Will look for an update from you.
Connie (PA)Hi David:
Tried to email you about the mealworms but the email on my past post on this forum says it is not a valid email address.
Connie (PA)Hi Judy and David:
I felt for sure the babies would fledge either yesterday or today, but I was wrong, they all seem to be hanging tight. I am happy about that since we are due for a hard freeze tonight. Three sides of the bird house are still covered in foam insulation so hopefully my babies will be Okay. I remember last year vividly when my nephews wife went out to check on her fledglings and found them all frozen. I will be glad when this night is over and I can check on what transpired over night. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome. In the meantime the Grosbeaks, Orioles, and Ruby Throat Hummingbirds have all arrived this week, so it is bird paradise here.
Connie (PA)Hi Judy:
Congrats on the two nests, even though I have 2 nest boxes out I never succeed at getting two pair. Papa #1 chases off any other male that shows up.
So glad at least the last two eggs laid have survived and the second nest sounds very promising for 5 new blues.
My nest was built very early also, it actually surprised me when I saw mama working on it, but I am glad it all worked out, and her babies will fledge this week.
Connie (PA)Hi David:
If it weren’t for you I would have never got pictures posted. I thank you for offering to do it for me, but I hate to impose on people so I just decided to try again.
Thank you so very much for your offer, I did and do appreciate it.
Connie (PA)Thank you Judy, it took me quite some time to figure it out, and now I hope I remember. The little ones are not so little anymore they will be 2 weeks old tomorrow, so they should fledge on Thursday. Good start to the year and I do think the insulation helped a lot with the freezing cold weather.
Connie (PA)Carol, that is great news on both fronts, new hatchlings and one less Hosp, the day couldn’t be better on the home front.
Connie (PA)Hi Everyone:
I did get my pictures of me Blues to post but in a different way than others get them to come up. If you scroll from right to left you can see all the ones except for the ones I took today.
Connie (PA)Hi TroyS:
My best advice is to read past posts from the members and to go to wwww.Sialis.org and absorb a ton of excellent information.
Where are you from and do you have bluebirds nesting at this time, or are you just looking to get started?
Connie (PA)Hi Carol:
We are in for the same kind of weather, freezing cold tonight temps in the high 20’s. We has snow last night and a prediction of frost the following two mornings.
We covered the four sides of the box in 1” styrofoam insulation, just holding them on With two rubber hair bands that fit around the whole box. Hope it works.
Connie (PA)Didn’t work
Matt: Congrats to you and Mama
on the 6 eggs. I don’t like the thought of cold weather but we can’t control Mother Nature. Mine made it through that bitterly cold weather we had, but my husband and I covered all 4 sides of the nest box with styrofoam insulation, three sides are still on and we are due for another blast of high 20’s to low 30’s tonight with a possibility of snow flurries or mixed precipitation, and my eggs are all hatched. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome for you and me.

Sassy.
Hi David:
The code finally arrived in my phone but by then the option to enter it had expired. They have both my email and cell number, but I might have to wait to get home to finish the registration.
