They spent an hour yesterday and an hour today but no nest yet! How long does this process take usually before the nest gets serious?

Well today was my super bowl day. A pair of bluebirds showed up and were in and out of my box! Beyond excited. This is in ncredible. I hope they stay!! I watched them in mu yard for about an hour around 1:00 and then they left for the rest of the afternoon.
Ugggh they’re torturing me. I can hear one in the very far distance…but still haven’t shown up again.
Yes. Very first sighting in my yard/any yard in the immediate area here. I have had success with them at a small park location very close by for a couple years. Mr Blue hasn’t been back today, unfortunately, so maybe he was just passing through. Hope he returns!
Hi Connie, it’s not on a tree. It’s on a conduit pole out in the open. I think my problem is I didn’t have a predator guard on the pole when the swallows were nesting. Of course I was planning to put it up as soon as the eggs hatched, but too late.
Same way I feel if I find a mouse still alive in a mouse trap. Hard not to feel sorry but we know mice need to be controlled.
Awesome! Hope he comes back. I bet he will. Yeah I have a Robin bully and so does my brother’s box. Annoying!!
Congrats!!! Gives me hope there is still time for bluebirds to show up in my boxes! Good luck and GET THAT MALE HOSP!! Critical. I bought a sparrow trap and put a wooden box facade on the front to make it attractive to HOSPS. Get a little bluetooth speaker and play the hosp sounds next to the fake box and they’ll be intrigued.
Thanks again. Do you think I should leave the feather nest? It’s not spoiled by anything.
Thanks Lisa and Judy! Wish I had put a predator guard on the pole. I really didn’t think we had any snakes around. I don’t have a big property. Yeah…God willing a bluebird might come along. Seems a little late, but who knows.
Thanks Dana. I hope you get some bluebirds soon! Finally my Tree swallows started activity in my yard but still no bluebird appearances. There’s still a chance though… I’m staying positive as possible. Now I am also working on getting orioles to stick around! My latest mission/challenge.
