Rich, this is so great! It’s been my mission as well to bring bluebirds back to my neighborhood, though it has probably been a lot longer of a drought! This is an old suburb. I have been successful bringing them back to the park nearby, and the next steo.is to draw them into our neighborhood. This isnthe first year I have them at least hunting and appearing in my neighborhood, so we’re on the right track. You’re story is so encouraging to me. Gid bless!

The box is facing northish. Funny, I have two walmart boxes, an old one and a new one. The one they seem interested in is the old one. The other one is facing west. I DID just notice a wasp going in the one they’re interested in AN HOIR AGO. Wonder if it was in there while they looked. Hmmm. And i left a ill fated unspoiled tree swallow nest in the other box. Maybe they’ll get serios on my wedding anniversary which is Sunday. That woild be a nice gift! Haven’t seen them since this morning. But I remember when the swallows made a nest there was a period of time they weren’t around. It’s been really hot here in the philly burbs the past couple days. I really appreciate all the responses though. Thanks, all.

They spent an hour yesterday and an hour today but no nest yet! How long does this process take usually before the nest gets serious?

Ugggh they’re torturing me. I can hear one in the very far distance…but still haven’t shown up again.

Yes. Very first sighting in my yard/any yard in the immediate area here. I have had success with them at a small park location very close by for a couple years. Mr Blue hasn’t been back today, unfortunately, so maybe he was just passing through. Hope he returns!

Hi Connie, it’s not on a tree. It’s on a conduit pole out in the open. I think my problem is I didn’t have a predator guard on the pole when the swallows were nesting. Of course I was planning to put it up as soon as the eggs hatched, but too late.

Same way I feel if I find a mouse still alive in a mouse trap. Hard not to feel sorry but we know mice need to be controlled.

Awesome! Hope he comes back. I bet he will. Yeah I have a Robin bully and so does my brother’s box. Annoying!!
