I think we have 4 also. One egg not hatched 2 days after the others. My absolute bluebird joy has been dampened by my sweet wonderful sheepdog having his bone cancer come back after surgery to save the leg and chemo. He has amputation tomorrow…totally off topic. Trying to find happiness in the sweet baby blues.
I think I have a different pair but they look just like last year’s. They have a different perch and are extremely vigilant and love to bomb me!
I hope to have babies tomorrow!!!
I can’t believe you have babies!!! i thought I would win in south Alabama with my five eggs! Congrats!!!
Weather has been wonky this year. It went from freezing to the 80’s overnight. Now kind of chilly in the 60’s but mom is on the nest pretty much all of the time and I am stocked with mealworms.
Mine are shiny blue and I was hoping for hatching today. Probably tomorrow..
If it makes you guys feel any better I broke my ankle in an ice storm down here in the tropics in January LOL!I thought for sure this was last year’s pair but wow, they are super protective. I don’t remember getting divebombed so much last year! All is well so far. Luckily I have never seen a HOSP on my property knock on wood. Just stupid wrens.
I feel awful. I monitored at 2 PM and Mom was in there. Incubating 5 beautiful eggs! Papa is none too happy with me right now! He is the best protective dad. I’m so glad my same pair are back!
Thanks Carol… Mine are year round pests..Finally have a day off tomorrow and will find a shoebox to sacrifice. Thank you!!
I really need to get photo bucket so I can quit annoying my Facebook friends with egg pictures!
I know I can look at Sialis but I forget the best timing for the wren guard. Probably ASAP…Any advice appreciated..
Second one today after putting up the sparrow spooker last night. Wren guard next, trying to make one change at a time…
Weather has turned chilly (50’s) and rainy, was grateful to see another one tonight!Strange that the nest has looked complete for almost a week and no eggs. Huge sigh of relief when I saw the pair outside yesterday…I guess they know better than we do about when to start laying eggs…
So glad that huge hawk I saw did not get them…I am so sorry guys…I have no idea why I don’t have HOSP because the Target parking lot a mile away is full of them.I am really enjoying the goldfinches right now while waiting for that first blue egg!
I hope your year is great Sassy!
My nest looked totally complete Tuesday so I’ve been disappointed not to see an egg yet…
This morning I went to put out mealworms and saw what I believe is the biggest hawk I’ve ever seen circling above. I pray my birds haven’t fallen victim :(I want to do photos but never figured it out! Maybe this will be my year….
